Sustainability is a hot topic and nowadays every company has to step up and do its part. At UFO Supplies we look at sustainability a little bit different. Yes it is very important, but not as a goal at itself. We look at sustainability as a proces, not as a box you can tick.
Thinking about the impact that you make as a company and making the right choices is what sustainability means to UFO Supplies
Floris (Managing Director UFO): “We see sustainability as an ongoing journey. The world changes and new solutions and alternative products come into the market on a regular basis. It is our job as UFO Supplies to stay on top of these developments and to make our people and our customers aware of sustainable alternatives every day. It is our mission to enable growers to grow their flowers and plants without bringing damage to the planet. And - if possible - we want to give back!”
Triggering people to look beyond what they have always done and making people aware of the impact they can make is important. Floris: “We don’t have all the answers, but we do know that we look at what can be done in this moment. We hope to make our customers as well as our suppliers aware of this as well. We are in this together and only by working together, we can make a true difference. We learn every day. And we continue to do so!”
That’s why sustainability at UFO Supplies is integrated in the entire business. There is no Chief Sustainability at UFO Supplies. Everybody has a part in the transition and everyone at UFO Supplies feels committed to do his or her part. Floris: “Our people are motivated to make a difference and believe that doing business and making a profit, can go hand in hand with sustainability. We - as well as our customers - have a business to run and staff to pay, but we want to do it as sustainable as possible. When there is a sustainable alternative, we use it. When there is not, we look at the alternative that has the least impact on the environment. We learn and grow every day and don’t pretend that we know it all. Nobody does.”
Floris: “At UFO Supplies we are in this transition and we are doing the best we can. We are not 100% sustainable yet, and there will always be better alternatives. We are however 100% committed to the proces. And for us - and the planet - that makes all the difference!”
